James VaradyJames "Jim" Wayne Varady, age 70, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his home. Jim was born on June 8, 1947, in St. Louis, MO.Jim was a United States Army veteran who proudly served his country. Jim received his bachelor degree in Earth Science from S.I.U.E. in 1980. He had retired from S.I.U.E. from the grounds maintenance department after many years of dedicated service. Jim enjoyed taking trips to the Ozarks with his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Jim loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emily (Pierce) Varady.Jim is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of 51 years, Sharon, nee Foland, Varady of Edwardsville, IL, whom he married on July 27, 1966 in East St. Louis, IL; loving children, Steven (Julie) Varady of Edwardsville, IL, Robert (Shiloy) Varady of Oƒ?(tm)Fallon, IL, and Jonathan (Michelle) Varady of St. Jacob, IL; dear brother, Gerald (Kay) Varady; proud grandfather to Mary, Christopher, Nicholas, Chase, Colin, Hayden, Allison, and Evan; proud great-grandfather to Kylie; as well as extended family and many wonderful friends.Memorial donations may be given to New Opportunities in Granite City, IL. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
