James Irwin WalcottNEWARK: James Irwin Walcutt, 83, passed away on May 22, 2015. He was born on July 7, 1931 to William L. and S. Elizabeth (Irwin) Walcutt. He grew up in Toboso, Ohio and was a graduate of Hanover-Toboso High School.Jim proudly served in the
United States Navy from 1951 - 1955 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain during the
Korean Conflict. Jim had a long career working in the oilfields of eastern and southern Ohio for W.E. Shrider Co. and Jadoil Inc. He truly enjoyed his work. His hobbies included gardening, tinkering with anything mechanical, the outdoors, Cubs baseball, spending time with his neighbors and NASCAR. Jim also spent many years as a scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America.He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Jane (Barrick) Walcutt of Newark, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lori Walcutt of Denver, Colorado; a cherished granddaughter, Sarah Jane Walcutt of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; a sister-in-law Dorothy Walcutt of Zanesville, Ohio, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother William W. Walcutt.According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A private graveside service will be conducted, with burial in Frazeysburg Cemetery. The Vensil & Chute Funeral Home of Frazeysburg is in charge of arrangements. The family kindly requests no flowers, but if desired, a donation in Jim's memory be made to the Food Pantry Network of Licking County or the Licking County Humane Society.
