The funeral service for Mr. James Whitman "Jimmy" Johnson, 80, was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Denkins officiating. Burial will follow at Mr. Johnson passed away on December 10, 2016, at RMC Jacksonville. Jimmy was born on May 8, 1936 in Pleasant Valley to Homer and Mell Johnson and has been a lifelong resident of the area. After graduation from Jacksonville High School, he joined the paratroopers where he served two years in Germany. After completing military duties, he began his career in law enforcement working as Calhoun County Chief Deputy Sheriff to Sheriff Roy Snead, followed by a 35 year career as a special agent for the National Automobile Theft Bureau (NATB), which later became the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). He is survived by his wife, Billie Sue Rountree Johnson; two daughters, Lydia Johnson and Jan Garfinkle (Eddie); four grandchildren, Katie, Elyssa and Jake Garfinkle and Sari Hernandez; one great-granddaughter, Adalyn Hernandez; three sisters, Anita Burns, Lois Poe and Patrica Green (James); three brothers, Maurice (Katie), Arnold (Sue) and Jackie (Jeanette), two sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson and Ruby Johnson, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Ralph Johnson. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 2959 Pleasant Valley Rd, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
