Jamie David Ziebarth Obituary

Jul 30, 1979 - Dec 09, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Jamie David ZiebarthMemphis, TNJamie David Ziebarth was born on July 30, 1979 in Marshall, MN and everybody loved him. His wife and son loved him. His mother and father loved him. His brothers and sister loved him. His grandmas and grandpas, and his aunts and uncles loved him. Even when he was only one day old, everybody loved him. Jamie died suddenly on December 9, 2016 of a heart attack. And everybody came, and everybody sang...and everybody still loved him.Jamie loved comics, action figures, POAs, and unresolved endings. He waived late fees under a dollar and judiciously filled prescriptions and our lives with his gentle soul. During a nomadic childhood with stops in South Dakota, Iowa, and Texas, he developed interest in dinosaurs, drawing, and diners. His family settled in Memphis in 1992, and he graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1997, where he added muscles to a redesigned Purple Wave logo. Jamie then attended Rhodes College, receiving a degree in studio art in 2001 and organizing a popular Four Square club that had as many as six members, before continuing his studies at the Memphis College of Art. In the interest of providing for a family, Jamie earned his PharmD from UTHSC in 2015. He was beloved by his coworkers and patients at Walgreens.Jamie's true passion (other than the soap opera Passions) was his wife Emily and their son Zeek. Jamie and Emily's story began in 2006 when they worked together at Blockbuster. While eating wedding cake snowcone supremes on their first date to Jerry's, they rescued a little boy from bullies and walked him home. Emily left for school in West Virginia and to her surprise was followed by Jamie, many, many times- so many times that his car died during a snowstorm. The car quit, but Jamie didn't. He was back less than a month later. On June 28, 2014 Jamie and Emily FINALLY got married. Emily was now in such a rush to be Jamie's wife that she cut the ceremony short at the alter. On September 6, 2015 Zeek was born and Jamie became a Daddy. Though he originally aspired to be a dinosaur, being a Daddy was his destiny. Zeek's favorite part of the day was when Daddy came home, and the feeling was mutual. They never stopped smiling and dinosaur roaring at each other. He will be missed by his wife Emily (Shelton) Ziebarth, his son, Ezekiel Redfield Fischer Ziebarth, of Memphis, TN; his parents Dr. David and Michelle (Fischer) Ziebarth; his brother Dr. Jesse Ziebarth and wife Dr. Sarah Ziebarth and daughters Josephine and Margaret; his brother Matthew Ziebarth and wife Liz Bruno and children Merritt and Rufus; his sister Piper; his in-laws Lee and Bonnie Shelton, Donald, Liyan, Anna, Jonathan, Alexander, Jaxon, Madelyn, all of Cordova, TN; his grandparents Kenneth and Frances Ziebarth of Pipestone, MN; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alois and Betty (Suess) Fischer, cousin Tara DeSplinter, and godfather William Doom. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 16 from 5 pm - 7 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. A memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
