McNerney, Jane GloriaOn February 14, 2017, Jane McNerney, age 89, of Springfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully in the presence of family as a result of complications related to heart disease. Jane, affectionately known to many as "Nina", was born on May 5, 1927 in Albany, New York and raised in Binghamton, New York. She married the love of her life, Martin A. McNerney, also of Binghamton, and they had three beloved children, Martin, Susan, and Kathleen. As Jane's husband was transferred during his career in the FBI, the family moved from Flint, Michigan, to Worcester, Massachusetts, and finally, in 1966, to Springfield, Virginia, where Jane resided for the remainder of her life. Jane was a member of St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church in Fairfax Station and later Church of the Nativity in Burke.Jane is survived by her three children and by daughter-in-law Nancy McNerney and sons-in-law Ron Prichard and Pat Cleary. Nina is also survived by, and was "World's Best Grandmother" to, her ten beloved grandchildren—Marty McNerney Jr., Christopher McNerney, Molly McNerney, Conor McNerney, Ian McNerney, Sarah Jenkins, Rob Prichard, Evan Prichard, Mary Prichard, and Maggie Cleary. Nina had a loving relationship with each of her grandchildren, who were the sources of great pride and joy throughout her life, right up to her last days. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren. Services celebrating Nina's life will begin with a visitation at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, Virginia, on Sunday, February 19, from 4-6 pm, and will conclude with a funeral Mass on Monday, February 20, at 10 am at St. Mary of Sorrows Historic Church, located at the corner of Ox Road and Fairfax Station Road in Fairfax Station, Virginia 22032.
