Jane “Clear Sky Woman” Pangowish lived a great life. She was a traditional, Catholic woman. A strong woman who survived residential school after 12 years. Prior to starting her family, she taught at the boy's school in Wikwemikong and later worked as a store clerk. She had a great passion and talent for quill boxing and other birch bark crafts. She fostered this talent in her own children by teaching them the craft to keep the great art of quill boxing and working with birch bark alive for future generations. Her quill boxes were sold and enjoyed worldwide. She also loved knitting, quilting, and also scratch tickets, doing her puzzles, playing cards, and of course bingo. She enjoyed the age-old tradition of story-telling, and also the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be reunited with her late beloved husband, James Peter Pangowish, and also her sons, Felix and James Jr.
She leaves behind her children, Virginia, Ronald (Yvonne), Marvin, Rebecca (Wolf), Constance (Robert), Marlene, Jennifer (Richard), Stephen, Timothy, Phillip (Kim). She also leaves behind her 26 grandchildren, 2 predeceased, and 17 great-grandchildren. Also, her godchild Seraphine Pangowish and two predeceased. Predeceased by her siblings Henry, Isaac, Alex, Ambrose, and Susan.
