A Life Well Lived

Janet Ernestine Outerbridge, born on February 3, 1930, in St. George, Bermuda, passed away on March 31, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of Victor Trott and Madeline Trott. Janet was married to Donald Outerbridge for 69 wonderful years, and together, they raised a beautiful family.

Her five children survive Janet: Donald Outerbridge and his wife Paula Outerbridge, Alan Outerbridge, Anthony Outerbridge and his wife Helen Outerbridge, Carolyn Robinson and her husband Keith Robinson, and Irving Outerbridge and his friend Tiffany. She was also a loving grandmother to seventeen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Janet attended The Berkeley Institute and graduated in 1944. She had a passion for learning and particularly excelled in Mathematics. She continued to educate herself throughout her life and worked at the Bank of Bermuda branches in St. George and the Airport. Janet was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family first. She was an exceptional cook and baker. As the wife of a skilled fisherman from Baileys Bay, she would make delicious meals from anything her husband brought in from a day out fishing. These included fish chowder, stewed turbot, hash shark, lobster in the half-shell, mussel pie, boiled fish, baked fish, and fried fish. If the family knew that lobster was on the menu for the night, none of the children would venture too far from home for fear of missing out on a family favorite. In addition to her main dishes, she would make the best chocolate fudge and condensed milk candy in the entire island of Bermuda.

Janet passed away peacefully surrounded by family in St. George, Bermuda, from natural causes. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Janet's legacy of love, laughter, kindness, service and strength will live on in the hearts of her loving family and friends.
