GOSHEN — Janet Horn, age 80, of Goshen, Indiana, and formerly of Ligonier, Indiana, passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at The Maples in Goshen. She was born on June 18, 1935, the daughter of James and Ruth (Stewart) Van Skyock in Geneva, Indiana. On Feb. 11, 1956, she married Charles Lee Horn. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2003. She is survived by her beloved children, Lori (Darrell Wilson) McKibbin of Liberty Township, Ohio, Chris (Andy) Walters of Syracuse, Indiana, Bruce Horn of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Angie Gayden of Goshen, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister, Judith Witwer. Janet was a dedicated mother and homemaker until her children were all in school. She then worked in the family business, The Home Improvement Center, with her husband who was a local contractor. Janet enjoyed gardening and was very talented at quilting and crocheting. However, among her many talents, baking was what she was known for — there was always dessert, and it was always tasty. A celebration of life service will be held in Janet's memory on Saturday, March 5, at 4 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center in Ligonier, with a private family burial to take place at Eden Cemetery in Topeka, Indiana. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of The Maples and IU-Health Goshen Hospice for the special care they provided.
