Janet K. Glick, our family matriarch passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 9, 2014 due to complications following surgery. Janet was born on January 25, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois. Janet was raised and well educated in a very social atmosphere with a large family in Chicago. Although a great believer in education, Janet took a hiatus from school when she met and married the love of her life and husband for 54 years, Earl, who pre-deceased Janet in 2008. Together they traveled the world and passionately enjoyed their children and grandchildren, theatre, music and fine wines. Most important to Janet was raising her family who learned from her how to love and appreciate all things. Janet showed her children and friends how to see beauty in everything; how to find wonderment in each moment and how to help with anything. As the children grew, Janet returned to her passion of art and education. She was most prolific at creating beautiful sculptures out of marble, granite, Lucite and clay, perfecting her skill by many summers spent with artisans in Italy and making wonderful friends. Once comfortable with her artistic balance, Janet returned to her education completing her B.S. in Art and her M.S. in Art Therapy. Janet used her skills in art and caring to help perceptually and physically handicapped children to learn. Janet will be profoundly missed by her children: Michael, Daniel, Linda, Steven, Diane, Cynthia, Jeff, and Jennifer, her grandchildren: Carolyn and William (BJ) Hoefft, Lauren and Kevin Hanson, Elizabeth, Maxx, Benjamin, Evan (EJ), Rachel, Charlotte and Jocelyn, her great grandchildren: Sophia Hoefft, Jane and Jack Hanson and by her brothers and sister, Arlene and Morrie Friedman, Jerry Klein and by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Temple Kol Tikvah, 20400 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills, CA 91364. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Janet's name to: the Center Theater Group, 601 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, West Valley Playhouse, 7242 Owensmouth Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91303.
