Janet A. YetzerSHELBY: Janet Ann Yetzer age 85, resident of Shelby, died peacefully at her home on Friday, May 12, 2017.Janet was born on June 19, 1931 to Otto and Teresa Stine in the Settlement. She married Tom Yetzer in 1950 and together they had 8 children. Janet began her working career after her children were all in school. She worked as Assistant Manager at the Great Scot Supermarket for many years then was employed in the food services department for Shelby City Schools, retiring as head cook at Dowds elementary. Janet was involved with the Most Pure Heart of Mary Altar and Rosary Society for over 50 years. She worked as a Girl Scout leader for several years - even taking on a National position. Janet was also very involved in raising funds to build the current Shelby Senior and Community Center and served on the board for many years.Janet's biggest joy was family - both blood and faith! Janet prepared Sunday dinner for anyone who wanted to come - sometimes over 25 people! She enjoyed her Wednesday morning breakfast with friends who are like family and spent many hours serving others at the Shelby Senior and Community Center. She absolutely loved "her" Buckeyes and Indians!!Janet is survived by Tom Yetzer, husband of 66 years; daughters Carole Weidmann of Linwood NJ; Barb (Jeff) Harper of Willard; Betty-Liz Yetzer of Findlay; Judy (Mike) Caporini of Shelby; and Monica (Artie) Thompson of Jamesburg, NJ and sons Chet (Jean) Yetzer of Shelby; Tom (Char) Yetzer of Shelby; and Jerry (Judy) Yetzer of Wadsworth. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Auer of Shelby and a brother, Jim (Shirley) Stine of Shelby; Sisters-in- Law Mary Metzger, Marge Riley; Brothers-in- Law Robert Yetzer, Jim (Betty) Yetzer, and Richard (Joan) Yetzer. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by granddaughter Ashley Yetzer; Son-in- Law Danny Pugh; sisters Mary Houpt, Marlene Misamore and Sabina Rice and brother Darwin Stine. Sister-in- Law Patricia Reece, Brothers-in- Law Charles Yetzer and Harold Yetzer;A funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Father Chris Mileski will officiate with interment at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
