Jul 05, 1958 - Jan 01, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Jay M. RentzelTrilby, FLJay Michael (Mike) Rentzel, 57, passed away on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2015, at the Cornerstone Hospice Center, Clermont, Florida after a brief battle with cancer.Mike was born on July 4, 1958, the son of Jay L. Rentzel and the late Joan E. (Small) Rentzel. Surviving Mike is his partner of 20 years, Billy Miller. Mike graduated from Dover Area High School in 1976 and Pennsylvania State University in 1980. He served in the United States Army from 1980 to 1984. Mike worked in advertising in New York City until 1986 when he began working at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Mike worked for Disney for twenty years holding various jobs at the parks and lastly as a graphic artist for the Disney Vacation Club. Mike and Bill moved back to New York City where Mike worked for ProPoint Graphics until recently returning to Disney. Those who knew Mike remember his laugh, his beautiful singing voice, his boundless creativity, his incredible intellect, wry sense of humor, never-ending thoughtfulness, heartfelt kindness, and his amazing personality. Disney was the perfect place for Mike to work. He loved the people, was able to express his creativity, use his talents and work in a magical place where he could share his magic with everyone. Anyone who ever visited Mike at Disney was a witness to how much he loved where he worked and how the people there loved him. You couldn't go very far without someone yelling out, "Hey Mike!" and upon introduction, having them tell you how wonderful he was and how lucky you were to be his relative or friend. Being born on the Fourth of July, Mike came into the world with fireworks and left this world to enter heaven with fireworks on New Year's Eve. Mike loved fireworks and always brought the magic and joy of fireworks to everyone who knew him. In addition to his partner, Bill, Mike is survived by his father, Jay L. Rentzel of Manchester; his brother, Kevin and sister-in-law, Michelle Rentzel of Cogan Station; nephews, Tad Rentzel and Teague Ohl; his wonderful family of aunts, uncles, cousins; and countless friends and loved ones. A memorial service to honor the life of Mike will be held on February 6, 2016, at 1 p.m., at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 366 Board Road, Manchester. Please join family and friends in remembering and honoring Mike. William E. Little Funeral Homes, 60 S. Main St., Manchester, is assisting with arrangements. KuhnerAssociates.com
