We are saddened to announce the passing of Jay Fortenberry. Jay was a devoted step father raising 4 small children into adulthood. He was a wonderful story teller, whose stories got even more grandeur as time passed by. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, woodworking, designing structures, cooking family dinners and playing various online video games. Jay was a big man with a big personality that couldn't be over shadowed, but at times could be gentle and quiet.
Jay is survived by 4 stepchildren Christopher Poynter, Ashley Decker, Aaron Poynter, and Michael Poynter, 3 grandchildren Jaeden Decker, Sadie Decker, and Sonny Somers, Niece Alexandra Williamson, Nephew Thomas Bartosch and Aunt Dr. Laura Thomas.
Jay will be dearly missed but his love lives with us forever.
You can to the family or in memory of Jay Fortenberry.

This man is and was an absolute legend. Jay was a personality and an amazing team player. Playing alongside Jay in some of his favorite hobbies for a number of years, I was always impressed with his ability to laugh off a situation and poke fun at himself. A trait only found in a secure and happy individual. He had the personality that you always wanted to be around and as a friend, you were constantly waiting for another one of his vintage stories or one-liners. I think you would be hard-pressed to find any of his gaming friends who don't have a story or a quote of his that makes them laugh out loud, every time they think about it. So much so, that we find ourselves keeping a handful of his greatest hits available to share with the gaming family, at any time.
Reading the outpouring of comments once news broke of Jay's passing, it is evident that his friends and peers are deeply saddened (selfishly) to have lost this great entertainer and man. We share our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones and are comforted by knowing our friend is off entertaining in the next chapter. Jay's friends continue to speak his praises and share stories about him and the times we shared. I don't any of us will be attending a balloon fiesta, where Jay doesn't land on our mind.
With love brother,
the Bros.
