Jean Brown1926-2017Jean Kohnen Brown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, the 20th of January, 2017. She was born on the 12th of April, 1926 to Nick and Elvida Kohnen in Minneapolis, MN. Jean was raised in Los Angeles, CA and graduated from North Hollywood High School. She attended Redlands University before becoming a flight attendant for United Airlines. She moved to Houston, TX in 1958 where she lived the remainder of her life. She worked at Baylor College of Medicine in the Internal Medicine Residency Office for many years before retiring in 1996. Jean was a faithful member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church for over 36 years, where she was a member of Daughters of the King and the Christian Life Study for 20 years. Other community activities include the Blue Bird Circle, Methodist Hospital Service Corp., Clipped Wings, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Mothers' Club.Jean is survived by her son Robert E. Brown, Jr., daughter Debbie Robinson, son-in-law Kent W. "Rocky" Robinson, adored grandchildren Haley, Jordan and Duncan Robinson, and countless friends. The family would like to extend thanks to the physicians who cared for Jean: Drs. Jennifer Meyer, Prasad Manian, Suzanne Lasek-Nesselquist ; Amy Mynderse, Tejal Shah and Suzanne Plattner.Following a private interment, a memorial service is to be conducted on Wednesday, the 8th of February 2017, at two o'clock in the afternoon at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road, with The Reverend R-J Heijmen officating. Immediately following the service, the family will greet friends at a reception in the Bagby hall. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to The Gladney Center for Adoption in Jean's Memory 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76132; the Blue Bird Circle, 615 West Alabama, Houston, TX 77006; or St. Martin's Episcopal Church 717 Sage Road, Houston, TX 77056, for the Serenity Garden.
