Jean Krauss Davis1942-2016Jean Krauss Davis passed away suddenly on Friday, October 7, 2016, from an accidental fall in her home in Houston. Jean was born on January 28, 1942, in Houston, to Edward and Beverly Krauss. She was a graduate of Bellaire High School in 1959 and swam with the Shamrock Hotel Corkettes. She attended the
University of Texas at Austin until she married Dr. Mark Davis of Houston and had her beloved daughters, Lisa and Shari. She later married Sanford Austin of Oklahoma City. She had two granddaughters, Lauren and Allison, and two grandsons, Jack and Andrew, with whom she cherished spending time. Jean was a legal secretary and an art marketer before she found her passion with travel and worked in the industry for various travel agencies throughout the years. One of her own most memorable trips was taking her girls to New York City, arriving during the Thanksgiving Day parade and staying at the Plaza Hotel. Another highlight was a trip to Italy with her mother during which she met and had a cocktail with one of her favorites, Rod Stewart. Her specialty, though, was cruise vacations. She enjoyed many cruises including a crossing with her daughter on the Queen Elizabeth 2. Jean loved meeting new friends, going to favorite restaurants, and playing Bridge, especially when she won. She served on the boards of several social clubs, most recently the residents' board at Brookdale Senior Living. She was also involved with her Bellaire High alumni organization. She loved music and played piano her whole life. She was a big football fan, following the Texans and the collegiate teams of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sharing "The Young and the Restless" and the daily crossword puzzle with her mother. And, of course, everyone knows how much she adored her dogs, Peaches and Dolly. Jean is survived by her mother, Beverly Krauss Painter, brother Edward Krauss, and sister Carol Mark. She is also survived by her daughter Lisa White and son-in-law Phillip White of Cincinnati, Ohio, granddaughters Lauren and Allison, daughter Shari Chadderdon and son-in-law John Chadderdon of Sugar Land, and grandsons Jack and Andrew. Jean chose not to have a funeral service and wanted instead to be remembered for living the life she loved.
