Underwood, Jean Evelyn "Mimi" passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017 in Scottsdale, AZ. Jean was surrounded by her loving family whom she continued to comfort and reassure until her passing. She was born on July 15, 1930, in Santa Rita, NM to Garvious "Sonny" and Lillian (Pinckney) Biles. The family moved to Morenci, AZ when Jean was a child and she graduated from Morenci High School. On March 11, 1950, Jean married Conner Gene Underwood. Jean and Gene moved their family to Scottsdale in 1962 where Jean was active in her children's schools and worked for the Scottsdale Unified School District for thirty seven years. "Miss Mimi" spent her last twenty years as a noon-aide/grandmother figure to thousands of students at Navajo Elementary. She was an active member of Scottsdale Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon for several terms. Jean treasured her family and friends more than can be expressed. Her outgoing, friendly and helpful nature made her someone people instantly loved and she returned that love. Jean is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald K. Biles. She is survived by her husband Conner Gene Underwood, her children Marc (Sherry) Underwood, Douglas Underwood, Cynthia (Michael) Dudley, her grandchildren Paige (Mikey Napieralski) Underwood, Austen (Briana) Dudley, April Dudley, Kendra (Ryan) Steele and Kooper Underwood, her great-grandchildren Olive and Nora Napieralski and Giovanni Dudley and many, many dear relatives and friends. The celebration of Jean's wonderful life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 22, 2017 at Scottsdale Presbyterian church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Navajo Elementary School, 4525 N. Granite Reef Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85251, where an item for the playground will be placed in her memory.
