Jean "Jeanne" Gottula Inskeep, 51, passed away on March 31, 2017, in Las Vegas, as a result of complications from Lupus, from which she had suffered since 1982. Jeanne was born on August 3, 1965, in Lincoln, Neb., as the third child and second daughter of Larry and Ginger Bassett Gottula. As a young child, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and later in her teens, she received the diagnosis of Lupus. These illnesses presented lifelong challenges. Yet, she had a smile and laugh that warmed the hearts of those around her. Her family moved to Ankeny in 1973, where she attended Ankeny schools from third grade through graduation in 1983. Throughout junior high and high school, she played several musical instruments, but focused on the trumpet. She played in the concert, jazz and marching bands at Ankeny High School. She studied accounting and computer applications at community college. After finishing the program, she took a position as a project coordinator for a construction company working on the Hoover Dam in Nevada. She also worked in real estate management and as an office manager. Jeanne married Kevin Eason of Carroll in January 1985. Together, they had two wonderful children: Tyler Scott Eason and Jenna Sue Eason. They divorced in 1990. While working at the Hoover Dam in 1993, she met Rick Inskeep. They married on September 21, 1997, and made their home in Las Vegas. Always good at numbers and games, Jeanne enjoyed playing Blackjack and has several tournament wins to her name. An avid pet owner, she rescued several cats and dogs and found homes for more kittens than her husband and friends can count. Rick provided Jeanne with unwavering love and affection. During the month Jeanne was hospitalized in the ICU and through her week-long stay in hospice, Rick stayed by her side. He decorated her room with roses from their garden and brought her Anatolian Shepherd rescue dog, Hooch, for one last visit to say goodbye. Jeanne leaves behind her loving husband, Rick, her children: Tyler (Lindsey) Eason and Jenna Eason; four grandchildren: Taylor, Alexander, Vivienne and Paxton. She is survived by her father, Larry Gottula, of Verdi, Nevada; sisters— Jamie (Gary) Buelt of Polk City; Johna Gottula Bastin (Mike) of Des Moines; Kathi (Rick) Horsley of Lincoln, Neb. and brothers—Steve (Leath) Gottula of Spring, Texas, and Scott Gottula of Arvada, Colo. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ginger Bassett Gottula, as well as her paternal and maternal grandparents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 14, at 4 p.m. in the fourth floor Recital Room of the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines, 1011 Locust Street. Memorial contributions will go toward a college fund established at Bankers Trust for her grandchildren.
