Jean HeldenbrandRural Madrid, IAJean Ardis Heldenbrand, 92, of Boone County, IA, passed away on November 30, 2016. Jean was born on September 25, 1924, in Newton, IA. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, at 11:00 am at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, IA with lunch to follow. Her Interment will be held on Thursday, December 8, at 9:30 am at Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter, IA.She is survived by her loving husband, Don Heldenbrand; her siblings, Roger Wigton and Mary Gamache; her children, Judy Ross, Sheila Toth, Sue Dodson, Shirley Carr, Nathan and Chuck Heldenbrand; her grandchildren, Monica "Jean" McBride, Jessica Carr, Nicholas Dodson, Hugh and Devon Heldenbrand, Jason Dodson, and Savannah "Jean" Heldenbrand; four great grandchildren, and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by Leonard Wigton (infant brother), and parents Hazel and Charles Wigton.Jean and Don spent many years raising their family on the farm in Van Meter. In retirement, they enjoyed full-time RVing in the sunshine, then returned to the Midwest.Jean graduated from Johnston High School, attended business college, then enlisted in the Navy and became a Wave. After basic training at Hunter College in NY, she was stationed in Washington, DC as a Yeoman 3c. Following
World War II, she worked as a Stock Record Control Clerk for Quartermaster Property, at Camp Dodge, near Johnston, IA.Jean lived a wonderful life, full of love and positivity. She touched the heart of everyone who knew her. She enjoyed music, played the organ, directed the church choir, had a perfect bowling game, and cherished following basketball, football and watching the Cubs win the World Series!Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's name to the Augustana Lutheran Church, HVAC Fund.
