Jean Zamboni KoosApril 20, 1930 - October 24, 2016Jean Esther Zamboni Koos was born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1930, to Frank J. and Norda (Chamberlin) Zamboni and was raised in Paramount, California. She was the second born of three children. Jean passed away on October 24, 2016, at her residence at the Commons in Grand Junction, Colorado from natural causes. She had her family by her side along with those who cared for her at her residence. She was 86 years old. Growing up she lived in the same house with her parents and siblings, Arlene and Richard, until marriage. She attended Los Cerritos and Lincoln for her elementary education. Middle school she attended Our Lady of Victory in Compton where she met her future husband, Dale Henry Koos. Dale and Jean where sweethearts through high school at St. Anthony's in Long Beach and went on to get married a few years later. In her 40's she went on to College and received an Art History degree from Long Beach State College. Jean was an avid figure skater and competed at the amateur level at her father's ice rink, Iceland, in Paramount where her father's famous ice resurfacing machine the "Zamboni" was invented. Jean loved to travel and went on various trips over seas. There are many memorable family vacations taken in the Condor motor home traveling across the United States, Canada and Mexico. At Long Beach State she joined the ski club and took to the local slopes in California. Her business adventures included being a partner with Paramount Engineering and also Frank J. Zamboni Inc. as Secretary. She was an adventurous and caring soul who loved new experiences and new learning. Dale and Jean where divorced in 1966 and she married Allen Hoisington in 1990, he preceded her in death in March, 2014. Jean is also preceded in death by son, Tony Koos; parents, Frank J. and Norda Zamboni; Dale Koos and sister, Arlene Lenarth. She is survived by five of her children, Kathy (Steve) Edwards of Grand Junction, Colorado; John Koos of Houston, Texas; Janet (Dave) Simone of South Lake Tahoe, California; David (Betsy) Koos of Cedaredge, Colorado, and Alan (Robbie) Koos of Grand Junction, Colorado; brother, Richard (Alice) Zamboni of Huntington Beach, California; grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Halie, Matt, Emily, Jaden, Cassidy, and Ryan and great-grandchildren, Megan, Kiley and Aubry. Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at The Commons who watched over her the past two years. She truly came to love them as much as they came to love her. Cremation arrangements by Browns Cremation Service. A private family service will be held at a later date.
