Jean Marion Smith RACINE- Jean Marion (nee: Sorensen) Smith passed away on January 11th, 2016 at the Wheaton Franciscan Health Center-Hospice Unit at the age of 95. She was born on April 29th, 1920 in Racine and graduated from Park High School class of 1937. Jean was united in marriage to Warren L. Smith Sr. on September 28th, 1946 in Shamokin.PA. Warren and Jean resided in Marietta, PA for two years before returning to Racine. Jean was a lifelong member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star and active, along with her husband, in the Masonic Lodge. Jean enjoyed playing bridge and schafskopf with her longtime friends and also looked forward to and enjoyed spending winter months in Florida. Jean is survived by two children; Warren Jr. (Barbara) and Richard (Ann) Smith. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Tomorra Smith, Meredith (David) Messina, Dr. Conor Smith (Dr. Kirsten Sasaki), Ian (Kelly) Smith and Brian Smith and five great-grandchildren with whom she was able to spend time with this past Christmas. She was preceded in death by one sister, Winifred MacDougall in 1983 and her husband Warren in May 2012. Jean's family would like to thank the compassionate staff at The Woods of Caledonia where she resided for the past 2 1/2 years and also the nurses and staff at Wheaton Franciscan Health Center-Hospice Unit. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband at Graceland Cemetery on Thursday, January14, 2016 at 11 am. with Rev. Mark Doidge officiating.
