PORTER, Jean (nee Bitterman)May 10, 1921 – Nora Springs, IowaOctober 19, 2016 – Calgary, AlbertaJean beloved wife of James S. "Jim" Porter of Calgary, AB, passed away on October 19, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Jean was born on a farm near Nora Springs, Iowa, and attained her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Iowa State University. Her joys were baking, knitting, sewing and music. She enjoyed travelling with family and family reunions. She spent time with various associations: Grace Presbyterian Church, The Canadian Federation of University Women, the P.E.O Sisterhood, Rotary Partners and Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered as a Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) leader at Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Jean is survived by her husband of seventy years, Jim, and her children Janet Johnson (David) of Princeton, New Jersey, Katherine Porter of Rochester, Minnesota and Robert Porter (Pamela) of Sidney, British Columbia. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Katherine Glading (Ethan), Christopher Parker (Jessica), Karen Johnson (Steve Ewald), David Parker (Katie), Casey Johnson (Ross Vandegrift), Cecilia Porter (Chris Lundy), and Andrew Porter. She is survived by six great-grandchildren, Claire Parker, Albert Glading, Elizabeth Glading, Will Parker, Evan Parker and Brodrick Parker. Jean was predeceased by her sister Janet Wood. The family would like to thank the angels from Granddaughters Senior Care for their loving support. Funeral Services will be held at GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ( 1009-15th AVENUE SW, CALGARY, AB T2R 0S5) on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through
