Smet, Jean RaeJean Rae Smet, 78, of Fond du Lac, passed away on May 23, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born on June 7, 1938 in Fond du Lac to Raymond and Lillian West neé Thompson.She graduated from L. P. Goodrich High School in 1956. She married Ronald D. Smet on June 6, 1959 at St. Louis Church in Fond du Lac. She worked at Wells Manufacturing, as THE lunch lady; at St. Louis' and St. Patrick's schools and Ma and Pa's Grocery Store. She was active in the St. Anne's Society, Girl scouts and Boy Scouts.She enjoyed gardening and canning. She had a special love of animals and particularly enjoyed her cats. But her favorite activity was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, Ron; her children, Linda Johnson, Jeffrey Smet (Kristin), Gregory Smet (Dawn) and Gail Kind (Scott). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Stormy), Nicole (Jared), Amanda, Jonathan, Tyler, Carrie, Melinda, Marisa, Madelyn, Kaylynn and Keegan; step grandchildren Aurelia and Jocelyn and her great-grandchildren, Jordell and Brianna; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Brian Smet and her brother, Ron West.Visitation: Jean's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue in Fond du Lac.Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday following the visitation at 11:00 AM.
