Jean Ratcliff DarwinKnoxville, TNJean Ratcliff Darwin, 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2017 to be in the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ. She passed at the Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN due to complications resulting from congestive heart failure. Jean was born on April 5, 1933 in Laurel Mississippi as Tommie Jean Ratcliff, daughter of the late Louis Clinton Ratcliff and Garnett Rebecca Pilgrim Ratcliff. Clint and Garnett were married in Laurel MS on June 16, 1930. Jean was their only child. Jean was previously married to Gordon G. Darwin. They were married on February 1, 1953, in Laurel, Ms. Jean and Gordon had two children, Robert Louis Darwin, born on May 1, 1958, and Caroline Rebecca Darwin, born June 28, 1970.Jean was preceded in death by her father, Louis Clinton Ratcliff (June 6, 1962); her mother, Garnett R. Ratcliff (October 15, 1995); and daughter, Caroline Rebecca Darwin (June 30, 1970). Jean is survived by her son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Lorraine C. Darwin, both in Knoxville, TN; and one precious granddaughter, Caroline Kirby Darwin, of Murfreesboro, TN; and many, dear friends. Prior to Jean's retirement, she worked in marketing for Coppinger's Photo Lab and Majestic Marketing in Cleveland, Tennessee. As representative for Majestic she was able to travel extensively and broadened her network of friends throughout the US. She was a people person and always brought a smile and kind heart to her work. Jean was an active member of First Baptist Concord Church in Farragut, TN during the past 15 years (participating in Sunday School and the Senior Adult Ministry). She treasured her friends and co-members at First Baptist Concord. Prior to that, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland, TN and Broad Street Methodist Church also in Cleveland. Jean also had a long standing love for all God's creation. She never met an animal that was a stranger, and was always ready to share her love and her food with all creatures.A celebration of Jean's life will be announced at a later date. She did not request or specify any suggested donation entities. A donation to a local animal shelter or animal sanctuary would be in keeping with her love of God's creatures.
