Jeanetta DykstraPrairie CityJeanetta G. Dykstra, age 89 of Prairie City, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church with burial following at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family and will go to some of Jeanetta's favorite charities. www.coburnfuneralhomes.comJeanetta Gertrude was born on September 18, 1927, to Gysbertus (Bert) and Carrie Stouwie Rozenboom by Leighton, Iowa. On February 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jerald Dykstra in Reasnor, Iowa. They started their marriage on a farm west of Pella. Four years later they moved to a farm west of Monroe, where they raised their family. She and her husband moved to Prairie City in the fall of 1995, where Jeanetta stayed until 2012 at which time she moved to The Shores of Pleasant Hill and lived there for three years. She was a resident of Ramsey Village in Des Moines for the next two years and for the past year she has been a resident at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona.Jeanetta worked at various jobs during her life. She was a nurse's aide at Clearview Manor in Prairie City for a number of years and then worked at J.C. Penney's in Newton until she retired. She was a self-taught seamstress and in her spare time she would be at her sewing machine. She outfitted her family for years and sewed for many proms and weddings. Her other hobbies included crocheting, crafting and quilting. Jeanetta has been a member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church for 66 years. She taught Sunday School for several years and was a member of the JOY Society and later became a member of the Helping Hand Society. She was also a member of My Brother's Keeper - helping them make hundreds of quilts for the homeless and needy. Jeanetta loved her family and doted on her 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who will all miss her.She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie and her husband Ron Van Zante of Prairie City, Connie and her husband Ed Slaughter of Waukee, and Shirley and her husband Rudy Renaud of Council Bluffs and one son, Loren and his wife Carla Dykstra of Monroe. Her grandchildren are Chad Van Zante, Cassandra Jones, Dustin Slaughter, Shannon Dykstra, Carrie Nash, Calli Van Buckley, Meagan Breckenridge, Alisha Baas, Tyler Slaughter, and Alyson Fendrick. Her great grandchildren include Hope, Faith, Grace, and Grant Van Zante, Carson and Elliott Jones, Shelby Slaughter, Chloe Nash, Vivienne and Faye Baas, Elise and Leah Dykstra, and Brayden, Adalynn and Greyson Breckenridge. She is also survived by her sister Anna Rae (Lloyd) Van Hemert, sister-in-law, Alvada Rozenboom, and a brother-in-law, Glen Erickson. She was Aunt "Nett" to many nieces and nephews. Jeanetta was preceded in death by her husband Jerald in 2002, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
