Jeanne Marshall Pritchard died October 31, 2009, in La Jolla, CA. She was born on July 12, 1925, in White Plains, New York, to James S. Cawley and Margaret W. Fuller Cawley. She grew up in Summit, New Jersey. Jeanne graduated in 1946 from Columbia University's Presbyterian Hospital, School of Nursing in New York City. She was a registered nurse. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Marshall, on September 21, 1946. She was an active volunteer, serving her church and community. Jeanne received the Ann Magnussen Award from the American Red Cross in 1970. She was a regular volunteer nurse at Red Cross bloodmobiles and was pleased to have maintained her RN license until her 80th birthday. Jeanne was a shining example of faithful Christian witness. She served at all levels of the Presbyterian Church (USA): as an elder at her local church, in her presbytery, synod, and nationally. She lived out her faith through her dedication to social justice concerns. As President of the United Presbyterian Women, she was a key leader in merging the women's organizations of the northern and southern Presbyterian churches in 1985-1988. She became co-moderator of the newly combined Presbyterian Women and mentored many future leaders in that organization. Jeanne's proudest accomplishment was in successfully rearing, in partnership with Don, seven children: Donald E. Marshall (Marianne), Seattle, WA; James F. Marshall (Gail), Walnut Creek, CA; Stephen F. Marshall (Sharon), Altadena, CA; Jeff C. Marshall (Wendy), Kenmore, WA; Susan Marshall Rush (James), Idaho Falls, ID; Katherine Y. Marshall Feroglia (Gene), Los Altos, CA; and Jane Marshall Holtz (Bradley), Whittier, CA. Jeanne was also very proud of her 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Don and Jeanne were married for 43 years until Don's passing in La Jolla, CA, on April 22, 1990. Jeanne married the Rev. Dr. Francis W. Pritchard in 1998. From this marriage, she was happy to add to her family six adult stepchildren, eight step grandchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren. Francis died on September 29, 2009 in La Jolla, CA. Jeanne is also survived by two sisters, a brother-in-law, a nephew, and five nieces. Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on November 22, 2009 at the La Jolla Presbyterian Church.
