Funeral services for Jeffery Berke, age 62, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville. A resident of Austin, Texas and formerly of Mentor, Jeff was born on August 23, 1954 in Canton. He passed away on Oct. 23, 2016 at the Cottonwood Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in Austin from complications of Parkinson's. Jeffery graduated from Mentor High School, class of 1972 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 1976 from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. After teaching for two years he moved into the field of computer programming and worked across the country settling in Austin, TX. Jeff enjoyed bowling, music, and socializing with his friends. He is survived by his brother, Ronald (Barbara) Berke; sister, Patricia Berke-Takacs; aunt, Alice (Bob) Jacobson; nephew, Cody Takacs; niece, Jessica Takacs; cousins; and his cat, Rumi. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Betty (Hoag) Berke and niece, Jennifer Berke.
