Jeffrey Alan AndersonNEWARK: Jeffrey Alan Anderson, 61, of Newark, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 28, 1955 to the late Walter "Frank" Anderson and the late Mary Leffler Anderson. Jeff had a wonderful life being married to his best friend and wife of 40 years, Debbie Mendenhall Anderson. Together they raised three children, Joshua Anderson of Powell, Ohio, Heidi Boone and husband Bryan of Powell and Heather Kee and husband Jason of Newark His pride and joy came when he became a papaw to Morgan Boone, Caleb Boone, Olivia Kee and Mackenzie Kee.Jeff is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Joy McFadden Mendenhall; two brothers, Mike Anderson and wife Doris and Tim Anderson and wife Paula; two brothers-in-law, Terry Mendenhall and Richard Mendenhall; sister-in-law, Cindy McNeal and eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Kenneth Mendenhall and beloved nephew, Walter Matthew Anderson.Jeff grew up in Waverly, Ohio. Upon graduating high school, Jeff earned a degree in accounting from Franklin University and a master degree in business from Dayton University. He worked most of his life for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. It was a job that brought opportunities that had Jeff and his family living throughout the United States. With those opportunities brought lifelong friends in Mike and Twyla Storage, Jerry and Conda Barlow and many more. Upon leaving Goodyear, Jeff chose to become a school treasurer for Hillsboro City Schools and most recently Newark City Schools. It was a job that showed his passion for his community, children's education and a love of lifelong learning.Jeff was a member of Community Wesleyan Church in Newark. He lived life in a way that all who knew him, knew he was a Godly man. He would help anyone he could and show them God's teachings. In his final days he would say that his cancer made him bolder about his love of Jesus and telling everyone about Him. He had faith until the end.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2016 at Beulah Chapel CCCU, 585 Chester Hill Road, Chillicothe, Ohio with Rev. Chris Dyer and Rev. Dan Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery, Waverly. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly and one hour prior to the service at the church.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newark City Schools, A Call to College, P.O.
