SANTA FE, NM Jeffrey Frost Burnham, 37, Environmental Engineer and Hydraulic Modeling Expert of Santa Fe, N.M., died August 2, 2015, in Phoenix, Ariz. following a brief battle with cancer for which had been treated at the Mayo Clinic Hospital there. He is survived by his wife, Hannah A. Burnham; daughter, Acacia M. Burnham; his parents, Kathryn F. and Roderick H. Burnham of State College; his grandmother, Ruth T. Frost of Mifflintown; his aunts and uncles, Karen and Kenneth Wolgemuth of Thompsontown, and Cora and Anthony Correale of Greenwich, Conn.; and four first cousins. Jeff was born on July 10, 1978, in York. After attending York Suburban Schools from kindergarten through ninth grade, Jeff graduated from Lawrenceville Academy in New Jersey in 1997. In 1998, he studied the classics in Latin and Greek at St. John's College in Annapolis, Md. before, in his words, "taking to the road to see America from the bottom up". For two and a half years, he taught math, science and English at North Fork Community School in Paonia, Colo., worked as a cook at restaurants and soup kitchens throughout the Southwest and Midwest, and developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. Having returned to his studies, he graduated with a B.S. in 2005 from Colorado State University where he helped co-found that school's chapter of Engineers Without Borders and develop a municipal water supply for the town of Dos Vieques in El Salvador. At the time of his death, Jeff was employed by Flow Science, Inc. of Santa Fe. Among the times Jeff enjoyed most were the hours spent with his wife and daughter, volunteering in the community and working in his profession in hydraulic and environmental engineering. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Jeffrey Burnham's name to
liberationprisonproject.org, a Tibetan Buddhist social services project; or to
hov.org, , 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. In accordance with Jeff's wishes, the family will hold a private ceremony of remembrance in Cape May, N.J.
