He spent much of his youth in LaSalle-Peru, Illinois where he was active in scouting, achieving Order of the Arrow and Eagle. Vince retired after working as a long-time employee in the wiring shop at Ranger Boats. He was an avid reader, especially fond of presidential history, National Geographic, and current events. He was intrigued by maps and loved to discover "new" back roads in his '69 Chevy pickup. Vince enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music, loved the challenge of "Name That Tune" music trivia, and was known to serenade his country neighbors by playing his coronet. He kept his mind sharp by doing daily puzzles—anacrostic, logic, and Sudoku—and loved to help others crack the mystery of the Rubik's cube.
