Jeffrey Joe DeWitt, 41, of Shell Rock, passed on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, following a motor vehicle accident near Clarksville.Jeff was born on Feb. 10, 1975, in Waverly, the son of Marilyn (Neal) and James DeWitt of Shell Rock. He was raised in Shell Rock, and graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1994. Jeff was currently employed at Feldmeier Equipment in Shell Rock.Jeff was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. He was a real outdoorsman and loved to camp and spend time on the river, either fishing, canoeing, kayaking, or tubing. He also enjoyed music and spending time with family and friends. He was very helpful, kind, and considerate of others.Jeff is survived by his son, Nicholas J. Fettkether; his parents; his brother, Matthew DeWitt; his sister, Lori DeWitt; two nieces, Taylor Hoefer and Madelyn DeWitt; a nephew, Kaden Swinton; five cousins, Shana Phillips, T.J. Phillips, Stephanie Schmadeke, Joy DeWitt, and Jennifer DeWitt; his significant other, Lois Jennings; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Ann (Hoodjer) DeWitt; Wayne Neal; Adelia "Dee" (Gibson-Neal) and George Escherhausen; one aunt, Patricia (Neal) Phillips; and two uncles, Thomas DeWitt, and Gary Neal.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, with the Rev. Kim Smith officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock. Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and also one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church on Monday.
