Jennifer Annette Stroud-Miles was born on June 1, 1959 in Houston, Texas to Otha and Effie Black Stroud. She was the oldest of three siblings, attended school in the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Kashmere High School in the class of 1977. She received her secondary education at Texas Southern University. Jennifer was a long-time employee of the Houston Chronicle for more than 30 years, and was actively employed at Houston Community Newspapers.
Jennifer accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the faith at New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Wiley L. Dunn. She shared her love for Christ by actively demonstrating a genuine devotion to service as a member of the Christ
Worship Center congregation under the leadership of Bishop Ed Johnson. Jennifer recently moved her membership to New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Chester Miles where she was faithful in service and eager to evangelize the Gospel of Jesus Christ until she departed this life.
Jennifer was called from labor to reward on December 29, 2012 in the presence of loving family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her mother. Jennifer leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband, Edwin Miles; two daughters, Brandi Elizabeth Miles and Meghan Alexandria Miles; father, Otha Stroud; one sister, Felicia Stroud-Davis; one brother, Anthony Hickey; mother-in-law, Betty Miles-Lewis; six sisters-in-law, Anita Miles, Sherri Jones (David), Andrea Miles, Ramona Miles, Kara Miles, Kimberly Miles-Smith (Edward); four brothers-in-law, Larry Miles, Andre Miles, and Foster Miles, Pastor Chester Miles (LaTonya); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
