He developed a devoted clientele who greatly appreciated his professional integrity and dedication to meeting their needs. As a loyal and dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church, Jerry faithfully greeted morning worshippers with a smile and firm handshake until his health no longer permitted him to attend services. Prior to his service as a greeter, he shaped and influenced generations of young men as a Sunday School teacher. His sincere concern for the spiritual welfare of each student was evident in the gentle and loving way he modeled Christ before them. As a lifetime deacon at Calvary, he exemplified a servant's heart. To his family his mealtime prayers were reminders of all that they had to be thankful for but too often took for granted. Health, nature, family and most of all a loving Savior were the subjects of this gratitude. His sense of humor, practical jokes and pranks will be fondly remembered. He passed on a legacy of lighthearted humor to his children and grandchildren.Until his failing health prevented it, he loved nothing more than to spend time in God's great outdoors hunting deer and fishing, especially when accompanied by his family. His celebration of life service will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at 2 p.m., with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
