ST. MARYS - Jeremiah J. "Jerry" Lynch, 78, of 171 Taft Road, St. Marys, died Sunday (Oct. 2, 2016) at his home surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.He was born on July 17, 1938, in St. Marys, a son of the late James and Gertrude Frank Lynch. On Feb. 17, 1962, in the St. Marys Church, he married Sue C. Laird Lynch, who survives.Jerry was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Sacred Heart Church. He graduated from St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1956. He served in the
U.S. Navy from 1956-1957 and then earned an associate's degree from Penn State DuBois. He retired from the former MascoTech after many years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, and the PFL. Over the years, Jerry was very active with the Boy Scouts and donated much of his time to helping the local Boy Scouts. An avid hunter and fisherman, Jerry was also very active at the St. Marys Sportsmen's Club, where he held many offices over the years. He also greatly enjoyed going to camp and spending time with his family.In addition to his loving wife of more than 54 years, Sue C. Laird Lynch, he is survived by two daughters, Judy (Andy Lecker) Lynch of Glen Hazel and Nancy (James) McCloskey of Kane; two sons, Shawn (Diane) Lynch of Murraysville and David (Alicia) Lynch of Hummelstown; and by seven grandchildren, Erin Lingenfelter, Jeremiah Lynch, Zachary Lynch, Abigail Lynch, Isaac Lynch, Sydnee Lynch and Chloee Lynch. He is also survived by four brothers, Patrick (Marilou) Lynch of York, Thomas (Maretta) Lynch of New Hampshire, James (Jane) Lynch of State College and Dennis (Karen) Lynch of Coudersport.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lynch.Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, St. Marys. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center St., St. Marys, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, O.S.B., officiating.
