Jerome V. (Jerry) Cullen, age 88, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away on December 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 25, 1928, in East St. Louis, IL, son of the late Mack & Anna (Johnson) Cullen. Jerry married Mary Kay Melvin on July 23, 1955, the love of his life. Jerry was a trooper with the Illinois State Police, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He was also a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served his country. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Edwardsville.Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, uncle and friend to many. A lifelong Cubs fan, he enjoyed seeing them win the World Series. Jerry had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and especially loved to spend time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Besides his devoted wife of sixty-one years, Mary Kay, he is survived by his loving children, Patricia (Tim) Ivey of Ballwin, Missouri, Kevin (Jeanne) Cullen, Keith (Gail) Cullen, Jerry (Jeri) Cullen, and John Cullen, all of Edwardsville; proud grandfather to nine – Steven, Shannon, Ryan, Michael, Carrie, Jacqueline, Julianna, Lucas and Emma; one brother, Jim (Nettie) Cullen, and one sister, Joann (Bob) Romple. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathryn A. Beermann, one grandson, Christopher, and seven brothers. A memorial mass for friends & family will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Jeff Goeckner officiating.
