Jerry F. NortonJuly 2, 1940 - July 7, 2014Jerry F. Norton was born on July 2, 1940 to Arthur B. Norton and Anne B. Siler Norton in Pocatello, Idaho. He attended Pocatello schools and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1958. After high school Jerry enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He was sent to radioman school and became a Morse code signalman on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock. Jerry was largely responsible for the Hancock earning the prestigious "C" for being the best in fleet communications. After discharge Jerry returned to Pocatello and went to work for the Bell Telephone Company. He rapidly rose through the ranks and was promoted to Marketing Executive soon after he joined the company. He served in that capacity in Idaho and San Francisco, CA. After a number of years, Jerry returned to Pocatello where he opened his own used car business which he operated for several years. He later operated a construction business until his deteriorating health forced him into retirement.He was married to Barbara Johnson and they had three children, Devon, Brandon, and Anne Nichole. They were eventually divorced.He was an exceptional outdoorsman, who spent many hours fishing, hunting big game and wildfowl. Jerry hunted and fished primarily on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation where he was an enrolled member of the Sho-Ban tribe. Jerry passed away peacefully at the Monte Vista Hills Convalescence Home in Pocatello on July 7, 2014 at the age of 74.He is survived by his two sons, Devon and Brandon; and daughter, Anne Nichole; as well as his brothers, Robert and Randy.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot.
