Jerry Lynn CassellKnoxville, FLJerry Lynn Cassell, age 63, passed away at his home in Knoxville, surrounded by his family in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 4th, 2017. He was born on March 27th, 1954 in Luttrell, TN to Fred Cassell and Rose Williams Cassell. Jerry graduated from Paducah High School in Paducah, KY, but declined offers of scholarships to post-secondary institutions of higher learning, choosing rather to become a Bishop in the Church of God of the Union Assembly and spread the gospel of Christ. Over the course of his four-and-a-half decades of service, Jerry would shepherd close to 20 congregations from Florida to Kentucky, Texas to the Carolinas. At the time of his passing, Jerry had been the Pastor of Claxton Church of God for 23 years where he helped teach a generation of the love, joy, and peace that exists in Christ. It is his epistle.Wherever he travelled, he was successful in maintaining a small business. Most recently, Jerry was the Founder, Owner, and Operator of Flooring Solutions, Inc. that primarily serviced Knox and Sevier counties. Jerry loved to build things and people; joke with his dry wit; and be in the company and fellowship of his family. Most of all he loved to use his mind and spirit for the help and betterment of his beloved Union Assembly. In this regard, Jerry was a Titan. He is survived by his best-friend and soul-mate, his beloved wife of 29 years, Brenda Faye Cassell – whom he would often say, to anyone who would listen, was the best thing that ever happened to him; children, Dewayne (and Lorine), Krista (and Charlie), Shane (and Anita), Nakia, Dabreon (and Mikina), Corey (and Kayla), Brendia (and Brandon), Skyler (and Heather), and Caleb (and Jane Ellen); 23 grandchildren; and many other great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, November 6th, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Claxton Church of God of the Union Assembly, 226 Mehaffey Road, Powell, TN 37849. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 7th at 11:00 AM at the Church. Jerry lived and died in the Faith of the Church of God of the Union Assembly. Condolences may be offered at
