Jerry D. MayesLancaster: Jerry D. Mayes, 77, of Lancaster passed away on Thursday August 31, 2017 at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1940 in Henderson, West Virginia. Jerry is survived by his son Jeffrey D. (Lisa) Mayes; daughters Rhonda Mayes,and Regina Mayes Barber; companion Carolyn Garber; also our mother Barbara Mayes; daughter-in-law Mardee Mayes Stover; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters: Shelva (Dale) Guisinger, Gloria, Diana, Darla, Pam, Angela, and Melanie; brothers Dick (Mary), Morris, Greg, Mike; brother-in-law Danny Rushing; sister-in-law Dorothy Kennard, friend Jim Marcus.He was preceded in death by his sons Jerry Lynn Mayes, Michael Ray Mayes, father Marvin (Ruth) Mayes, mother Leona (Bub) Garey, brothers Roger and Larry Mayes, father and mother in laws Walter and Christine Rushing.Jerry was a well-known carpenter throughout Lancaster and Fairfield County. He spent most of his time at Lowes treating the employees to his very dry jokes. He was always trying to build a better bridge. We'll miss you Dad. Love your family.A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Tuesday September 5, 2017 at the Sheridan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
