It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jessie "Grampes" Pitts, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on May 20th, 1940 in Blakely Georgia to the late Bennie Pitts and Willie Pitts. On February 21st, 2024 he departed this world surrounded by his loving family.


Jessie leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. His memory will live on through his devoted wife Lila Mae Tinson Pitts; four children Silisa, Ushinda and DeWayne all of West Palm Beach Fla., and Jessie and wife Tracy of Virginia Beach Va.; six brothers and sisters Willie B. Butler, Geridene Gibson, Wylene Etheredge Henry Pitts Willie Pitts II Ruth Smith; eight grandchildren Breeunka Allenka Breeunna Promis Jacoby Corey Jr Ayana Jaynard.

Throughout his life Mr. Pitts touched countless lives with his warm smile and compassionate heart. He dedicated himself to providing for his family as an employee at Hamburger Heaven for 26 years followed by another 22 years at Osprey Construction where he earned the respect of colleagues as a hardworking man with unwavering integrity.


A devout member of Saint Maryland Missionary Baptist Church Jessie found solace in faith throughout every chapter of his life. His passion for reading historical novels allowed him to explore different worlds while also sharing stories from generations past with anyone willing to listen.


In addition to being an avid reader Jessie enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing or tending to his garden which flourished under his care. A skilled chess player he often challenged friends and family members alike always bringing laughter into their homes through friendly competition.


His generosity extended beyond personal hobbies as he selflessly volunteered at the local food bank giving back to those less fortunate within the community that meant so much to him.


Jessie's culinary talents were renowned among loved ones especially during holidays when they eagerly anticipated indulging in apple pies sugar cookies made from scratch according recipes passed down through generations becoming traditions themselves.

 

He treasured each moment spent with grandchildren at their Georgia home creating memories that will be cherished forevermore.

 

Funeral services were held on Saturday March 2nd ,2024at Saint Maryland Missionary Baptist Church where Rev R Gardner officiated interment followed at Saint Maryland Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery

 

The impact left by Jessie “Grampes”Pitts cannot be measured it is immeasurable . The void left behind serves as a testament not only to how deeply he was loved but also how greatly missed he will be .

 

May we find comfort knowing that Grampes has found peace in eternal rest leaving us with memories filled joy laughter love lessons learned
