A beautiful life for beautiful soul

For Bunch

From The family and Jeffrey

Jessie Mae Owens aka bunch was born March 6 1944, at a hospital in Hampton county. She attended Estlll School of Estill, South Carolina from 1st to 9th grade. This choice was to help out the family in various ways. She didn’t finish school but she was very knowledgeable and wise in life. Bunch made everybody feel loved and welcomed with every encounter. I can tell by this sad gathering who was loved and welcomed by her. Her nickname for me was always Home Alone  (Guess I’m a home body still this day). These feelings and memories came back when she call me that a few years ago, it definitely warmed my heart to hear that. Im pretty sure everybody here has their own special memories from her. Jessie Mae Owens had 3 nickname from her late mother ( Florrie lee Miller) aka Big Ma which was Bunch, Sister, and Monkey. Bunch is the name that everybody called her.  Did y’all know how Bunch got her nickname? I was told Jessie Mae Owens attempted to boiled a bunch of eggs for Easter but unfortunately, all of them was still raw when cracked. Big ma response was “I’ll be damned”  then the name Bunch was born. Don’t get it twisted Bunch could do it up in the kitchen. Big Ma couldn’t do it alone for all these years. To me she was another extension of Big Ma. The love, the tenderness, the realness in a raw form.  That why it hurts to talk about her right now but I’m speaking with tears of honor for my Aunt. Sunday March 31 was Easter. Easter is one of the principal holidays  or feasts of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection three days after Jesus death by crucifixion. This tribute is a resurrection for a lovely spirit of Jessie Mae Owens. Her legacy will lives on through her family. Daughter Frankie Mae, Sons Verdell (Tick), and Kevin Owens (Kricket). Her late son Mannie Owens Jr (Junior). She have 4 living siblings; 3 sisters, Aunt Evelyn and Helen of South Carolina , Gloria ( Aunt Mickey) of Philadelphia. A brother; William (Uncle Foot/ Luray). She have many grand kids, nieces, and nephews. In her death, she joined her husband Mannie Owens Sr. Her other siblings; Sisters; Aunt Louise (Estill) Aunt Tina (Philadelphia) Eartha Lee (Aunt Binky/ Anderson)

Brothers; Uncle Perry lee, Roosewell (Uncle Sunny) Uncle Jimmy, Rockefeller (Uncle Bubba) and Rickie Miller Sr (General 9 Iron).

A few notable mentions; 2 late nephews Rocky Bryant of Luray, SC, Rockie Jenkins of Philly, PA. A late nieces Linda Early Miller of Luray, SC and Antoinnette aka Kizzie of Estill SC. You might called me Home Alone but I know the memories in my head and the love in my heart I can’t never be alone. Auntie, love you and going miss you very much. Rest at ease. Message to the family; Our family movie was The Five Heartbeats. A movie about 5 individuals that when through trials and tribulations but came back together at the end. My family I believe we going through our trials and tribulations but I pray that we can meet and end before it’s too late. Love y’all very much 🥲🥲🙏🙏
