Jessie Mae Jarman, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016, and into the arms of the Lord, at the age of 95. She was born on August 30, 1921, in Stuart, OK. A product of the "Great Depression" and the "Dust Bowl", Jessie Mae Watkins came to California as a teenager in 1937, and graduated from Hanford High School in 1939, then married George Leroy Jarman that same year. Professionally and later in life, she was a personal assistant to Hal Tokmakian, Director of Urban and Regional Planning at California State University, Fresno. She also was the personal assistant to Dr. Henry Madden of California State University, Fresno. She was also a talented gardener, cook, and seamstress but found the most fulfillment in being a mother. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ for her entire life and was a longtime member of the College Church of Christ in Fresno, CA. Previously, they were members of Arlington Heights Church of Christ. Jessie and Leroy had two sons, Michael Jarman and Wayne Jarman. Wayne passed away of cancer in 1983. Leroy Jarman, her husband of 67 years, passed away in 2008. Jessie was the third of six daughters born to Jesse and Myrtle Watkins, also of Fresno, Frieda Hoover, Estel Martin, Maxine George, Yvonne Blanchard, and Jean Peden, all deceased. She is survived by one son, Michael Jarman and wife Judith; four grandchildren, John Jarman and wife Lynne, Alyson Dale and husband Brennan, all of Fresno, as well as Jennifer Bellar and husband Jarod, and Kara Moschetto and husband Mike of Abilene, TX; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan Jarman, age 24, Jax Jarman, age three, Jillian Jarman, age one, Evan Dale, age two, Jax Bellar, age 16, Jentrye Bellar, age 13, Landrye Schlentz, age nine, and Ryder Schlentz, age five. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at College Church of Christ, 1284 E. Bullard, Fresno, CA, on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yosemite Bible Camp, in care of College Church of Christ, at the above address.
