Jessie Marie Sherbourne ClarkDEFIANCE: Jessie Marie Sherbourne Clark age 91, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016 at The Laurels in Defiance, Ohio. Jessie was born on June 12, 1924 in Macksburg, Ohio to Elizabeth and Wallace Sherbourne. She had resided at The Laurels in Defiance since 2008. Previous to that, she resided in Lima, Troy, Celina, Canton, Ohio and spent enjoyable winters with her husband Dick in Tucson AZ for many years. Jessie graduated from Macksburg High School in 1942. On July 3, 1945 she married the love of her life, Richard Edward Clark, Caldwell Ohio, who preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by two daughters Rebecca (Jerry) Latta of Defiance, Ohio and Lynda (Daniel) Porter of Anacortes, Washington. Jessie was blessed with four grandchildren, Amy (Daniel) Pflug, Angie (Micah) Thieszen, Nathaniel (Jenna) Porter and Benjamin Porter. She was also blessed with six great grandchildren.Jessie was the manager of JC Penney's Beauty Salon in Lima, and taught Vocational Cosmetology at Lima Senior High School. She had many interests including her love of music, singing, and performing. Her hands were rarely idle as she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, hair styling, painting, flower arranging, cake decorating, and cooking. She created many treasured keepsakes throughout the years for all of her family. She and Dick were community oriented and served often as volunteers, from helping neighbors and friends, to much involvement in The Lions Club. She was a founding member and Past President of the Lima Lioness Club as well as the Troy Lion Tamers and organized the Lions Club food tent at the Allen County Fair for many years. Also she was a member of the former West Elm United Church of Christ. Jessie loved her family well, and her family loved her in return. She will be greatly missed.Preceding her in death where her parents, brothers Lawrence and Ernest Sherbourne, sisters Bernice Smith and Freda Steen.Visitation will be held from 11:30-2:30, Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, OH. Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 2:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Lima Host Lions Club (
