Miss Jimmie Lee Nichols was born November 21 ,1945 in Itta Bena, Mississippi to Elizabeth Rogers and Johnnie Nichols. She departed this existence on October 3, 2022.
Jimmie attended Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood Mississippi. After graduating from high school, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she began her career in music singing in various night clubs. Jimmie loved singing… anywhere and EVERYWHERE. Jimmie loved her two sons, Brian and Ronnie, teaching them the gift of singing. She would wake up every morning singing loudly on her front porch “Good morning world. Here I am!!!”. When they were not singing, she was teaching them new words weekly! She wanted them to be able to speak properly, seeing they were raised in the country for 7 years saying things like “fixing to go to the stoe”. She would say “There is no such thing as fixing to go to the stoe!”. She would say “We are getting ready to go to the store”.
Jimmie was very protective of her sons. She would let everyone know don’t mess with my boys or you would have to deal with me (using other “choice” words). Jimmie had great friends too: Margaret, Juliette (deceased) Larry(deceased), and Luigi(deceased) who all played a role in the upbringing of her sons. Even though Jimmie had struggles in her life, it didn’t impact the love she had for her children and grandchildren. After raising her sons, she opened up her heart even bigger helping Ronnie raise his sons Ronnie Jr, Devonelle, Demani, and Demaurae.
She will be truly missed by her sons Brian (Pepper) Nichols and Ronnie Nichols, as well as her 9 grandchildren: LaVonne (Trinton) Allen, Antoine (Jennifer) Williams, Ronnie Nichols, Penny (Travis) Grant, Brianna Nichols, Devonelle Nichols, Corey Simmons Nichols, Demani Nichols, and Demaurae Nichols along with 10 great grandchildren.
She will also be missed by siblings Ruby Rogers, Ella Rose Rogers, Mary Louise Robinson, Johnny Steve Thomas (Uncle Sonny) and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.
She was proceeding in death by her parents, Elizabeth Rogers and Johnny Nichols, and brothers Jimmy Lewis (Uncle Junior) and Kenny Rogers (Uncle Ricky).
