RACINE - Jo Ann (nee: Petersen) Roy, 74, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Ascension All Saints. She was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on April 17, 1942, the daughter of the late Louis and Ethel (nee: Schooley) Petersen. Jo Ann was a graduate of Wm. Horlick High School and continued her education at St. Luke's School of Nursing. Her working career began at St. Catherine's Hospital, where she worked for many years, then at Ridgewood Care Center for years; continuing her nursing career at Grand Prairie Nursing Home, retiring in 2012. Jo Ann was an active member of (RING) the Retired Inactive Nursing Group. Jo Ann had a huge heart, very giving and charitable wherever she saw a need. Jo Ann had many interests, including, gardening, attending musicals, plays and art shows. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Brett (Michele) Roy; grandchildren, Jennah, Erik (Vanja), Elizabeth and Erin Roy; great grandchildren, Jesiah Safi and Elanah Ziegenhagen; sisters, Roberta (Mike) Burns and Kim Simonsen. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her daughter Carla Carson and a brother Chris Petersen. Memorial services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Monday before services, from 10:30 a.m. to time of service.
