Joan Catherine Elkins Marsee, 68, passed away on May 21, 2023, at her home in Manassas, VA. She was born on October 29, 1954, to Charles & Ada Elkins in Fauquier County, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her son, David Elkins; her fiancé, David Owens; her sisters, Elnor Wright, Elsie Elkins, Mable Moore, and Lucille Walker; and brothers, Earl Elkins and Charles Elkins, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Montero; her grandchildren, Angela Montero, JaJuan Montero, Anthony Moreno and Christopher Moreno; her brothers, Allen Elkins (Beverly) and Johnny Elkins (Bonnie); her dear friend and caretaker, Nichelle Thomas; as well as ten nieces, seven nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Tanya, Nichelle, and hospice did everything they could to keep Joan comfortable. Tanya stayed with Joan during the days and Nichelle remained with her during the nights. She was able to visit David’s grave whenever she felt inspired to do so.

Joan will forever and always be in the hearts of all who knew her. She will always be remembered for being a loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 10-11:00 a.m. at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, VA. A funeral service will immediately follow. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Memorial Gardens in Jeffersonton, VA following services
