Ericson, Joan A. "Joni"Joan A. "Joni" Ericson, age 76, of 509 Huron Street, Manitowoc, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center of Manitowoc after battling congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy for many years.Joni was born on January 21, 1941 in Gladstone MI and raised in Escanaba, MI, daughter of the late Edwin W. and Esther E. (Hillman) Ericson. Joni worked in the insurance industry her entire career until her retirement. She served as president of the Ladies Society at St. John's Lutheran Church in Two Rivers, and served on the board of the Lakeland Care District Stakeholder Advisory Committee, and on the Lakeland Care District Appeal and Grievance Committee, served as chairman for the Manitowoc Noon Optimist Group and served on the board of Manitowoc County Life Underwriters.Joni enjoyed many years of line dancing with her many friends. Joni was very involved at the Manitowoc Senior Center. She was also a volunteer for many years at Peter's Pantry enjoying all her many co-workers and clients. She loved her family, especially her grandson, Thomas, granddaughters Kara and Shauna, great-grandsons Chase, Dayten and Aiden, great-granddaughter Raelynn, all her many friends. Joni's favorite hobby was reading and was never without a book at her side.She is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law: Diane (Jim) Ford, and grandson Thomas, Evansville, IN; Denise Donahue and granddaughters Kara (Dan) Davis, Shauna (Chad) Novak, great grandsons Chase Neuman, Dayten Glish and Aiden Davis, one great-granddaughter Raelynn Novak, all of Manitowoc; one sister and brother-in-law: Sharon (Jerry) Van Patten, Antigo; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Gary Ericson, Manitowoc; Martin (Dede) Ericson, Two Rivers; Melvin (Gail) Ericson, Tyler, TX; many nieces, nephews, Tom Donahue and lifelong friends, sisters Kathleen Derocher and Barbara Macha and other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Esther Ericson; two brothers: Randall Ericson; James Ericson and one infant brother: Bernard Ericson.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 502 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Judine Duerwaechter will officiate. Relatives and friends may call on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated to Peter's Pantry, Manitowoc Senior Center or First Presbyterian Church.
