Joan CumminsCollierville, TNJoan Cummins, 88, was called home to her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2017. She was born on September 16, 1928, in Anderson, IN and graduated from Anderson High School. She married John Cummins on September 14, 1947. They moved to Bloomington, IN in 1956 when John purchased a business.Preceding her in death were her husband, John of Collierville, TN; daughter Linda Cummins of Anderson, IN and her parents Marion and Ira Strock of Anderson, IN. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Becky Cummins of Germantown, TN; and her three grandsons and their wives, Ryan and Tiffany Cummins of Auburn, AL; Tyler and Allison Cummins of Franklin, TN; and Kyle and Kacey Cummins of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Anderson and Bradley Cummins of Auburn, AL.A faithful member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and most recently Central Church in Collierville, TN, Joan was a resident of Bloomington, IN until November 2013. She and John moved to Collierville, TN to be near family. She was a woman of God that loved Jesus and people with all her heart. Her entire life, including her last day on earth, was spent reading and applying God's Word in her life, spending a significant amount of time praying for countless people, and eagerly sharing the love of Jesus with other people wherever she was. She leaves a legacy of what it looks like to follow Christ with all of her heart. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, IN, with Tom Ellsworth presiding. Visitation will also be on Friday prior to the service from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Burial in Valhalla Memory Gardens will immediately follow the service.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Central Church in Collierville, TN.
