Joan Eisinger-DeFonzoPittsgroveJoan Arlene (Zucker) Eisinger-DeFonzo, daughter of the late Harry H. and Lillian (Cohen-Weiss) Zucker, passed away on Tuesday, February 6th at her Pittsgrove home surrounded by her dear family and precious pets after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born on January 22, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Philadelphia public schools and graduated in 1950 from Overbrook High School. She was united in matrimony to Louis Richard Eisinger in November 1953. This union was blessed with children including daughter Sue Ellen who passed away in 1957. Joan's spouse Louis preceded her in death in December 1966. Joan earned her nursing degree in 1977. She was employed as a LPN at the former Vineland State School working in Unit Cottage. She retired from the State School in 1993. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Cunningham Elementary School. She had a passion for shopping and animals, collecting Oriental items and spending time with her family and friends. Joan was a den leader and a member of the Leuchter parent group, Beth Israel Congregation, Angler's Club and the Bridgeton Kiwanis Club. Her beautiful life will forever be treasured by her devoted husband of 16 years, Edward. Her precious children; son Hal Eisinger (Debbie) of Pittsgrove; daughter Margo Moses (Doug) of North Cape May; stepdaughter Nancie Smith (Timothy) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Louis Eisinger (Lauren) of Wayne, NJ, Lindsay Kreusel(Siegfried) of Pittsgrove, Richard Furstein of Madrid, Spain, Daniel Moses and Joshua Moses of North Cape May; step grandson Edward Smith of Phoenix, AZ., and her great grandson Jack Eisinger of Wayne, NJ; her beloved dogs; Vickie, Abbey, Trey, KiKi and her beloved cats, Penelope, Sunday, Maggie, Sabatha .On behalf of Joan's family, they would like to especially thank, Mary Lou Kenney from Bayada for her devotion, care and compassion for Joan. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Rabbi Alfredo Winter on Thursday at 10am from Beth Israel Congregation, 1015 E. Park Avenue, Vineland. Friends will be received from 9am to 10am. Interment will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma.
