Joan passed away peacefully in her sleep on 1/18/2017. She was known for her sense of humor and devotion to her two sons Robert and Kenneth. Joan was born on November 16, 1927 in St. Albans, New York. Joan was the youngest of eight children to Mary and Martin Struble. In her younger years she learned to play the piano and the fife. Joan has two sons Robert and Kenneth and a daughter-in-law Robyn, who all live in Cocoa Beach. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Sheehy of East Harwich Mass. Joan and her husband Jim moved to Debary, Florida in 1972 from Levittown, New York. Jim worked for the County in Deland. Joan was instrumental in the restoration of Debary Hall which was only a few blocks from her home. She was awarded the Debary Citizen of the Year in 1983. Joan and Jim enjoyed dressing up for Halloween with costumes like Miss Piggy, Shirley Temple and a grieving widow. They both loved to dance and were well known for the "Lindy Hop". Joan spent the last seven years at Orange City Nursing Home. She enjoyed the music and activities, and the staff who were so kind and caring. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
