Joan Marie LaRocque-Moore (lovingly known as "ReRe") died in her home on January 21, 2017, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the age of 64.Joan Moore is survived by her husband James Moore and her son Michael Moore, of Las Cruces New Mexico, her brother Arthur LaRocque of Belmont, Massachusetts, her niece Lynn Kaupp of Groveland Massachusetts, her niece Andrea Dos Santos Silva, of Quincy Massachusetts, her nephew Arthur LaRocque of Haverill, Massachusetts, as well as many cousins. Joan Moore is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gertrude LaRocque, of Boston, Massachusetts.Joan Marie LaRocque was born on July 4, 1952 in Boston, Massachusetts, to Arthur and Gertrude LaRocque. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1970, earning her diploma. She later graduated from Lesley University in Massachusetts, earning her Bachelor's Degree. Joan married her high school sweetheart, James Moore, on September 22, 1974. Joan spent her early professional years working for Cambridge City Hospital as a medical secretary. Joan and James dedicated the early years of their marriage to helping raise their beloved nieces and nephew, Lynn, Andrea, and Arthur. Joan and James would eventually welcome their son, Michael James Moore, into the world on March 17, 1983. Joan is remembered for having helped her son, nieces, nephews, and others through the challenges of childhood, adolescence, and into adulthood. Joan was immensely proud to attend several graduations, including her sons at University of Massachusetts Boston, in June 2008.Joan was an accomplished researcher of family genealogy. Over many years, she forged strong connections with numerous distant relatives, both in North America and Europe. Joan had an immense love of traveling, partaking in many trips across the United States, as well as to Canada and Europe. Joan had tremendous affection for felines in need of love, care, and assistance. She fostered many disadvantaged cats both in Reading, Massachusetts and Las Cruces, New Mexico. Several of the cats she helped would eventually become her loving pets, always eager to enjoy her presence and warmth. Joan is remembered as a supremely loving and supportive wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and daughter.A funeral is scheduled for 10:00AM on January 31, 2017, at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Father Narciso Rivera will officiate the ceremony. A reception will follow at a nearby restaurant. All, are welcome to attend and celebrate Joan's life, love, and accomplishments.
