Joan R. Johnson RACINE Mrs. Joan R. Johnson, 91, passed away at Hospice Alliance Racine Hospice House on Thursday, April 30, 2015. She was born on a farm in Yorkville on January 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Raymond and Viola (nee Lui) Pfeiffer, Sr. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation she married Walter Johnson on November 14, 1942. Walter preceded her in death on January 7, 1976. Joan retired from Western Publishing after 32 + years of employment. She was a longtime member of St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church. Joan enjoyed golfing, bowling, Tuesday Night Schaskopf, cribbage, volunteering at the Christmas House and St. Lukes Hospital and spending time on her daughter Kathys farm. However, she was happiest when in the company of her entire family. She is survived by her children, Judy (Keith) Ruelle of Racine, Kathy (Dean) Hicks of Warren, IL, Wally (Eleanor) Johnson of Racine, Gary (Kathy) Johnson of Sturtevant, Kenny Johnson of Racine, Barbara (Dan) DeFaut of Burlington, Karen (Willie) Johnson of Clintonville; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her sisters and brothers, Lucille Felton, Elaine Stuhr, Raymond (Shirley) Pfeiffer, Jr., Rita Krogh, Patty Connor, John (Sandra) Granger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Geersten, Beverly Johnson, Sally Granger, Ralph Haas; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by her sons, Gene Allen Johnson and Allen Johnson, step-mother, Margaret Pfeiffer; sisters and brothers, Lorraine (Ed) Tomasek, Jackie Geertsen, Helen (Pete) Pfeiffer, Mary Haas, Bob (Mary) Granger, Richard Granger, Tom (Joyce) Granger, Jean Granger, Dorothy (Jim) Ade and brothers-in-law, Arnold Felton, Carl Stuhr, Stanley Krogh, Alvin Johnson, Clarence (Jean) Johnson, Carl (Lil) Johnson, Dick Connor and sister-in-law, Alice (Howard) Luce. Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m. for a visitation and time to meet with her family. The celebration of her life and funeral Mass will take place at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church (15th and Grand Avenue) on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 1030 a.m. with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. There will also be a visitation from 930 1030 a.m. Her interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Maryknoll Lay Missioners, PO Box 307 Maryknoll, NY 10545or St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church.
