Powell, JoAnn,Mrs. JoAnn Schenck Powell, age 79, of Louisville, returned to her Heavenly Father on May 1, 2017. Mrs. Powell was born on June 30, 1937 in Louisville, KY. She retired from Norton Health Care after 25 years of service. Mrs. Powell was known for her love of gardening, fishing and giving her talents as a cook to her family and friends. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No 153 Fairdale chapter and Valley View Christian Church.Among those that preceded her in death include her parents, Joseph Schenck and LaVon Humphrey; her husband of 22 years, Hershell Powell; stepdad, Edgar Humphrey; siblings, Doris Tomlin, Marcella Hettinger, Joseph (Junie) Schenck and her beloved pets, Lindsey and Shelby.She leaves to cherish her memory her children, David Powell (Bonnie), Kimberly Miller, Karen Bramlett; grandchildren, Stefani, Tommy, Rebecca, Misty, Paige, Hannah; great grandchildren, Brianna, Ethan, Austin, Cheyann, Maleaha, Thomas, Adrianna, and Hudson; sisters, Emma Jean Mattingly, Dianne Simpson (John); brother, Edgar T Humphrey (Becky) and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be conducted at 12 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Stanton Cemetery.
